WHAT IS ONLINE/TELEHEALTH COUNSELING?
Online counseling is similar to in-person counseling but is done using virtual platforms. Common platforms used are Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Doxy.me, Simple Practice, and more. Video sessions are 50-60 minutes.
WHAT WILL THERAPY LOOK LIKE?
Therapy begins meeting you where you are. I will first ask you some questions to get to know you and find out your specific needs. We will then collaborate on identifying goals that will assist in getting these needs or concerns met. This is your time and I want to honor it and see you benefit from the therapeutic process.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Services are individualized and will vary from person to person. It will depend on your needs, the goals you set, and progress made on goals. You will decide how often your sessions are. I recommend at least biweekly to build rapport and establish the therapeutic relationship. However, if that doesn't work we will figure out a more suited schedule.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FEEL BETTER?
This will vary from person to person. Some people will start to benefit after the first session, for others it may take multiple sessions before they feel a shift.
WILL MY SESSIONS BE CONFIDENTIAL?
Confidentiality is of greatest importance to me. I will not share your information with any outside party without your written consent. That is a Release of Information (ROI). However, I must inform patients that I am a mandated reporter. Therefore, in cases of child/elderly abuse, risk of harming yourself or others, use of alcohol/drugs in third trimester of pregnancy, and if court ordered information must be reported.
WHAT IS A SLIDING SCALE FEE?
A sliding scale fee is a reduced rate for therapy services based on a patient's ability to pay. If you are having financial hardship talk with therapist during the initial consultation.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel an appointment, you will need to contact me at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Cancellations later than 24 hours will result in a $50 late cancellation fee. This is required to be paid before your next session. No call/no shows will be charged the full rate of the scheduled session/appointment.
